A swarm of bees arrived at The Barn, in Tadcaster, during 2020 and were kindly looked after and over-wintered for us before being returned in two hives in the summer of 2021. They were installed on the roof of The Barn and we started looking after them despite being, mainly, complete novices.
We have been lucky enough to have two excellent and experienced mentors who have been guiding and training us but we are still, so far, a small group and would welcome more interested people to join us. The group doesn’t meet on a regular basis at the moment but that might change in the spring when the bees become more active again when there’s more to do and the hives need to be inspected regularly.
If you are interested in finding out more about how to look after bees and would like to get involved in the group, please ask to be put on the bee group mailing list by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. You will then be notified of any up-coming activities by the group leader or in the main Tadcrafters monthly newsletter.
