Our first drop-in session at our new venue went really well and I think we are going to fit in nicely. Despite the short notice only a few people were unaware of the change but they still managed to find us. The Manor Farm Centre is going to be a new community hub for Tadcaster and it’s great that Tadcrafters are involved from the beginning and part of the team leading the changes. If you have not been to Manor Farm yet, make sure you get chance to have a look at this surprisingly impressive building.
Thanks to all your hard work another 20 twiddlemuffs were brought in to the session and sent to YDH the following day. Another 13 went a few days later as they had been borrowed by the Guides for a dementia awareness session first. There were also 19 knitted blankets and shawls and another 5 patchwork blankets from Anne given in that went off to YDH too. There were also 24 personal effects bags for St. Leonards Hopsice which will be delivered shortly.
The newsletter is a little late this month which means we have already had the July session and the next drop-in session therefore is Tuesday August 14th. If all goes to plan all drop-in sessions from now will be at our new home, the Manor Farm Centre (opposite the John Smiths entrance on St. Joseph’s Street). The entrance is around the back and easily accessible with no steps.
Days for Girls
Thanks to Lynne for supporting the days for Girls session at Priory Street on 13th June. The next session is on Saturday 14th July at all Saints Church Hall, Poppleton, 9.30-12.00.
Stalls and tombola
Thank you to everyone who contributed tombola prizes. Well done to Bev, Lynne, Jane and Sue for manning the stall at the Stutton Summer Fete and getting into the Wetherby News (photo above).
Our next tombola stalls are likely to be the duck race at the end of September and the Christmas market. Any small items you have made are great plus anything else you think is suitable as a prize, even if it is a bit quirky. No age restricted products, like alcohol, please. We really value the money we make on the stall for all the boring stuff we can’t avoid paying for so your support is very much appreciated.
Gardening: Grow Wild Project
The seeds at the Ingleby Drive Pumping station are managing to survive the dry weather, as they have been nurtured by local residents, and looking really healthy.
The poppy project is finally coming towards the end and we will be looking for suggestions of new knitting projects. We now have enough poppies, but any surplus will be put to good use for further decoration or for donated to the poppy appeal. If you would like to try out some different patterns for flowers we might be working towards a floral wall hanging when a final place for it to hang is identified.
Lynne and Su attended a “Men in Sheds” meeting in Harrogate on 14th June. We are looking to support anyone who is interested in forming one in Tadcaster. This is basically a group like Tadcrafters of more interest to men.
Wish list and current projects
Here is a list of current projects. More information about each is on our website or you can email for instructions. You don’t need to come to the drop-in sessions to contribute to our projects so if you would like to join in by making at home or with your friends/club that’s absolutely fine.
